Text: Luke 15:1-7

I SEEK YOU... GOD

The theme of the past week at Kids’ Kamp was “I seek you ...  God”.  We learned that God is a seeking God - He loves us and wants to be with us.

That is good news!  Now hear this: He seeks us, you and me.  No matter what you have done, no matter where you have been, God seeks us.  Now there are some who may think, "Well God couldn't possibly seek me - I'm so little, so insignificant.”  But the good news is that God does seek you.

“Other's think I'm such a sinner, God couldn't possibly seek me.”  But He does!

The Pharisees couldn't believe that God would seek anyone but themselves, those who did everything right - at least on the outside.  They had a wrong idea about who God is, and some of these wrong ideas of God continue today.

There's the idea that God is like a police officer in the sky.

Someone who is always telling us not to do this and not to do that.  We think God is someone who doesn't want us to have any fun.

Sometimes we think, "If you want to have fun, follow the devil - he is this good ol' boy who wants to help us enjoy ourselves."  But that is a lie.  Satan doesn't care if you have fun.  He only wants to destroy your life.  God on the other hand - we learned - came in the person of Jesus Christ, to give us life, life to the full.

God is not a police officer who doesn't want us to have any fun.
