I SEEK YOU... GOD (cont'd)

Then there's the idea that God is like a rescuer who is there in heaven only to get us out of trouble.

We call out to God when we get in a jam, call out a quick prayer and ask Him to rescue us.

And while it is true that God has come to save us, He is not someone to be called on ONLY when we are in trouble.  God wants to be with us all the time, to share the whole of our lives.  Helping us in our trouble, AND enriching our good times.  God is not only a rescuer

One last false idea: that God is a kind game show host who, if we do the right things and follow the rules, will reward us with good things.

So we think if we just live the right way and follow the rules then we will win the prizes that God has to give to us.  But we know that God loves us even when we don't follow the rules; in fact we can't be good enough.  That's the reason He came in the person of Jesus Christ - God is not a game show host

What is a better picture of God?  What is the truth?
